What colours go with Inchyra Blue?

Quick answer

Inchyra Blue loves warm off-whites, soft brass, oak and a deep earthy brown to anchor it. Drench the room and let warm woodwork stop it going cold.

Inchyra Blue is one of F&B's chameleons — it shifts between grey, green and teal depending on the light, and that's exactly what makes it so good. The trick is to let that shift breathe rather than fight it.

Drench the room. Walls, woodwork, ceiling — all in Inchyra Blue. It sounds bold, but a colour this complex doesn't want crisp brilliant-white trim cutting it into pieces. Cocooning the whole space lets the green-teal personality come forward, especially in lamplight.

If full-drench feels a step too far, keep your woodwork warm. A cool white will make Inchyra read flat and chilly. Go for All White (LRV 92) on trim and ceiling — it's F&B's most neutral white and won't drag warmth out of the blue. For a softer, slightly sandier off-white on adjoining walls or a hallway, Sand I from Paint & Paper Library (LRV 95.4) is gorgeous and keeps everything light without going stark.

To add depth and contrast, bring in earthy browns and burnished metals. Mylands Cigar BH.20 (LRV 11.8) is a deep, smoky brown that works beautifully on a fire surround, joinery or a feature wall — it grounds the scheme and pulls out Inchyra's warmth. For a hit of warmth in accents — a hallway, a sliver of woodwork, even soft furnishings — Dulux Copper Glow (LRV 30.1) echoes the old-brass-and-oak palette that makes Inchyra sing.

The natural "but what about warmth" worry is real: Inchyra can go cold and bluish in north-facing rooms. The answer isn't a different paint — it's the materials around it. Aged brass hardware, oak floors, rattan, leather, and warm electric light (2700K bulbs, not daylight LEDs) all coax the green and the warmth forward.

Practical advice: test a large sample on at least two walls and live with it for 48 hours across morning, afternoon and lamplight. Inchyra changes more than almost any colour in the F&B fan, so what you see at noon and what you see at 8pm are two different rooms.
